About CRASH & TAYLOR // Morning Show Hosts
They come from different backgrounds (and different eras!) but Crash & Taylor found they have a lot in common when they met in 2015 and decided to hop on this wild ride known as KBAD 94.5 and The Morning Crash.
In just the first few months after signing on Thanksgiving morning 2015, they landed a TV show that started at 2 hours, but has expanded to four hours Monday through Friday on FOX TV across the region from 6am-10am, and interviewed a who’s who of rock stars from Gene Simmons & Paul Stanley of KISS; David Draiman of Disturbed; Dave Mustaine and David Ellefson of Megadeth; Rob Halford of Judas Priest; Dexter and Noodles of the Offspring; Jack Blades, Kip Winger, Mark Slaughter…the list goes on and on!
We’ve also become close to a few rising stars: Scott Holiday of the Rival Sons, Gabbie Rae and Doll Skin among them. Hardly a day goes by that we don’t look at each other, smile, and say “this is our life.”
We may have to get up at 3am to go to work, but we’re lucky in that we say we ‘get’ to go to work instead of ‘have’ to. We look forward to talking to all of you every morning, being a show you look forward to hearing AND watching, making you laugh, think, and ROCK.
Some days we feel like we’ve been doing this show for a decade and then we realize it’s literally been months. We’re just getting started and can’t wait to keep bringing you more and more of everything you want every morning.
About Crash // Morning Show Host
Born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, I grew up around radio and TV. My mom worked at KSTP-TV and radio in the accounting department, while I wandered the halls of the radio stations and sat side stage during the tapings of the Bud Grant show (legendary former Minnesota Vikings head coach) I wanted to go into sports broadcasting when I was a kid, but when I realized I wasn’t going to go from high school to being the voice of the Vikings, I took a side trip through landscaping, movie theatre management and loading trucks at Sears before going back to my first love: broadcasting.
I went to Brown Institute and landed my first radio gig in Rapid City, South Dakota 25 years ago doing news on an AM station. But I got a taste of the FM side with Hit 100 where I got to participate in some promotions stuff and meet bands like Aerosmith, Metallica and Guns N’ Roses. I was hooked.
I moved to Sioux Falls in 1996 to be a part of a brand new radio station where I stayed until early 2015 when Chuck Brennan called me out of the blue to tell me of this over-the-top idea known as the Badlands. He told me he was starting a radio station and he wanted me to run it. Hire the staff, help order the equipment for my dream studio, pick the music. Basically every radio guys goal: to be able to build a radio station from the ground up. It’s been the best move I’ve ever made. We have so much fun every day, have rock stars on the staff and through the building on a regular basis. Incredible.
I’m a rock and blues guy to the core. Led Zeppelin and Stevie Ray Vaughan are the top of the food chain in my eyes, but I dig stuff from classic Van Halen, to Prince (Being a Minneapolis boy, he was Purple Yoda to us) to brand new Rival Sons. During the summer you’ll likely find me out at one of the many music festivals the city has to offer and in the fall I’ll be hoping that this is the year my beloved Minnesota Vikings FINALLY make it back to the Super Bowl.
Thanks for listening, watching and reading! I do tend to ramble on…
Stevie Ray Vaughan, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Rival Sons, Red Hot Chili Peppers
About Taylor // Morning Show Hostess
I was told I had to write a Bio about myself for our KBAD website, which as it turns out, is much harder than it sounds. To be honest, I don’t even know how I got here!
A little bit about me…I grew up an ARMY Brat in Colorado Springs and have been an avid sports fan since birth. My dad is a Minnesota boy, so it’s just fitting that I find myself among so many fellow Twins & Vikings fans (for better or worse!)
Crash says I was destined for Rock radio as I have even married a rock star! Seth, my husband is the lead singer in a local cover band who book gigs across the region. Together we have an amazing fur child – our Beagle Charlie.
I am a fitness FANATIC. I spent many, many years on the soccer field, and recently time on skates with the Sioux Falls Roller Dollz. I’m currently obsessed with cross-training and can be found working out at least 6 days a week.
And yes, KBAD is without a doubt the best job EVER. And I’m no new kid to radio, either!
After high school, I landed at Hastings College where I was able to pull my first ever shift on the radio at age 17. By junior year I was working at a commercial radio station as a morning show co-host. I spent another 5 years in morning radio in Indiana, and randomly ended up at an easy listening station in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Then one day I was working at a Harley-Davidson dealership and a guy named Crash reached out to me about some crazy ass Pawn Shop / Radio Station that he wanted me to be part of. As insane as it sounded, something told me this would be an opportunity of a lifetime.
I’m thankful every day that I took the leap of faith to join the KBAD family.
Offspring, Foo Fighters, Rival Sons , Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jimmy Eat World, Green Day, and Audioslave.
